Competition Play

Each player enrolled in The Gecko Elite Golf Academy becomes a Member of The Gecko Pro Tour on the first day of their Programme. Although players may decide to enrol in only one Programme, their Membership will remain in force for the entire 2012/13 season which runs from September 2012 to the end of March 2013. Therefore, should they continue to enter events once they have completed their Programme, they will be eligible (professionals only) to continue building points towards The Gecko Pro Tour's Order of Merit. In 2012/13, the top 4 players in the Order of Merit at the end of the season will have their fees to the European Tour Q School paid for by The Gecko Pro Tour.
Furthermore, as a Member of The Gecko Pro Tour, players will continue to benefit from unlimited practice (including unlimited balls) & unlimited use of the Par 3 course at The David Leadbetter Academy at La Cala Resort until March 31, 2013.
Our Programmes have been developed to guarantee players the opportunity of participating in at least 3 professional tournaments hosted by The Gecko Pro Tour – see 2012/13 Programme Schedule. Those players, who are professional, will be eligible to compete for the Prize Fund in each event.
For 2-day tournaments, there is a guaranteed pay-out to the top 20% of the field and in 3-day events, this figure increases to 33% (of the field). It is also worth noting that there is a guaranteed minimum prize for the winner of each event based on the size of the field. This runs from EUR.2,500 for a field of 75 players to EUR.5,000 for a full field of 156 players.
Players from The Gecko Elite Golf Academy spend the day before the start of each tournament at the venue of the event. Under the supervision of Paul Netherton and Nick Lane, the focus for this day is on course management in preparation for the tournament. Time permitting, a practice round or partial round is also played. A short group meeting is held at the end of the day to summarise the day's experience and key findings.
On each of the tournament days, senior staff members are in attendance to observe, monitor and report back on the performance of each player. An individual feedback session is held at the end of each day,
